Another friendly win for youth team...

THE SADDLERS' youth team ran out 1-0 winners against Nottingham Forest in their latest pre-season friendly.

"It was a good performance on a lovely pitch," beamed Head of Youth, Neil Woods. "The conditions were hot but the boys worked hard and displayed pleasing fitness levels.

"We haven't done too much positional work as yet, but it was nice to see what we told the lads after the Pelsall game on Monday was taken on board.

"It was a competent display where we played some good football and created a number of decent chances. It was also good to see the first-year lads mixing well with the second years. In fact, we started the game with five first years in the team.

"We're on track for where we want to be and this was another worthwhile work-out for us."

Matt Preston scored the only goal of the game during the first half.

The youth team take on Aston Villa Youth at Lilleshall on Tuesday, July 31st (kick-off 2.00pm). We then head for Sheffield United Youth (Saturday, August 4th, kick-off 11.30am) and Sheffield Wednesday Youth (Tuesday, August 7th, kick-off 3.00pm) to complete our pre-season programme of matches.
