WALSALL Football Club can today confirm that we have reached agreement with Sheffield United on an undisclosed compensation fee for Darryl Westlake..
The 21 year-old defender came through the ranks here at the Banks's Stadium and was offered terms of re-engagement at the end of the 2011/12 season. However, Darryl chose not to take up the club’s offer and was therefore free to speak to other clubs in the knowledge that as an Under-24 player the club had protected its Compensation Rights.
“Following the recent approach by Sheffield United, after negotiation, we have accepted what we feel is a good offer for Darryl that includes several performance-based contingent sums triggered by future achievements,” said Chief Executive Stefan Gamble. "We would like to wish Darryl all the best in his future career."
