WESTCARR SEEKS SCORING START TO NEW YEAR

31 December 2012

Loan man ready to see in 2013 with goals...

CRAIG Westcarr is hoping to start the New Year with his first goal in Saddlers' colours.

The 27 year-old arrived at Banks's Stadium from Chesterfield towards the end of November and has played his part in our recent upturn in fortunes.

"I feel that I have adapted well to the role that I have been asked to play here," he said. "I've got fitter and sharper with every game and now I am looking for the goals to follow.

"I'm enjoying my football again and have my focus back. I just want to play my part in helping the club push on and get the points in the bag in these two back-to-back home games.

"We can take heart from our recent performances; at Leyton Orient on Saturday we should have won the game, no question. We were very disappointed to come away with nothing to show for our efforts; I have to take my share of responsibility because I had a few chances and should have at least taken one of them.

"If we keep playing as we have done and doing the right things, we will be okay. It's when you're not creating chances that you have to worry.

"It's good that we have a game so soon after Saturday to try and get back into winning ways and add to the points we picked up in our last home game and at MK Dons on Boxing Day.

"We have a strong squad here, particularly going forward. Everyone is training hard and determined and it's a good group of players to be around.

"We're all looking forward to these home games coming up, and hopefully we can start the New Year in the right way with six points in the bag."
