Dean Smith's Christmas message...
OBVIOUSLY we were delighted to get that elusive win under our belts in the last game. It was a deserved victory as, apart from a few hairy moments here and there, we were the better side.It means that we have now lost just once in the last six games and we have to ensure that we can build on it and move forward, starting on Boxing Day at MK Dons.
The Dons are one of the better teams at this level and it will be a tough task, but we beat them earlier in the season and it will be the opportunity to do the double over them.
They have some good players, but so do we and we will go there will confidence and belief, particularly as we won there at the end of last season.
We had done better against the higher teams in this League and if we can maintain our performance levels, which have been good despite our run without a win, then we will give ourselves every chance of securing back-to-back successes.
It was nice to be able to introduce Flo Cuvelier as a second half substitute against Colchester. It's been a frustrating time for him as he has been desperate to play, but we've had to take a softly-softly approach to make sure that when he does return, he is firing on all cylinders.
To have him back in action is a real boost to the club and the player.
A busy period of matches now stands before us where I will be looking for us to keep our organisation and discipline in order to get some points in the bag.
Merry Christmas to all Walsall supporters...
