Mantom opens his scoring account for the season...

SAM MANTOM opened his goalscoring account for the season in fine style with a fantastic strike at Leyton Orient.

"I thought it had a chance when I hit it," admitted the on-loan West Bromwich Albion man. "Their 'keeper had made some good saves prior to that so I thought he may save it, but it was satisfying to see it fly past him and into the net.

"Obviously it would have made it even better had we taken something from the game because our performance deserved it; we went into the game full of confidence, but we know that if we keep doing the right things, we will be okay.

"It's good that we have a game so soon to get back on track and return to winning ways."

Mantom is hoping that more goals will follow. "I always feel that I have a goal in me," he added. "Hopefully I will keep getting the opportunities and can add more goals.

"We're playing some good stuff going forward and if we can stop the lapses in concentration at the back, we can really kick on. We'll analyse things and see how we can do better."
