SADDLERS YOUNGSTERS MARCH ON

11 December 2012

Another impressive League win for youth team...

THE SADDLERS' youth team secured another deserved victory with a 2-0 success against Port Vale.

"It was another solid display," said Academy Manager, Neil Woods. "We took control early on and took a deserved lead in the 13th minute with a volley from Reece Flanagan.

"It wasn't long before we were able to double our advantage with an individual effort from Jacob Hobbis.

"Going into the interval we were very much in the driving seat and whilst the second half never really got going for either side, we never looked like conceding.

"Our performance didn't flow during the second period; there were some tired lads out there on both teams.

"In the end I felt that we were solid and well-organised with skipper, Matt Preston leading by example and marshalling the back-line.

"It was a comfortable win with the lads' attitude and resolve continuing to improve every week, so there is plenty to be encouraged about as we go into the Christmas break."

WALSALL: Jones, Sinton, Christopherou, Heath, Dallison, Preston, McKenzie (Williams), Flanagan, Griffiths (Bakayoko), Hobbis, Reid (Kinsella). Subs not used: Garner, Lovett.
