Youth team run out 4-1 winners...

THE SADDLERS' youth team ran out 4-1 winners at Oldham on Saturday.

"It was a very good, competitive game," said Head of Youth, Neil Woods. "The two sides were fairly evenly-matched and the final scoreline maybe flattered us a little.

"We took an early lead through Matt Preston's header and our hosts were back on level terms five minutes later from a free-kick.

"Both systems tended to nullify each other but we broke away just before the break and snatched the lead through Alex Reid.

"The second half followed pretty much the same pattern, although we played the better quality football.

"Having missed our fourth penalty in five games, we were able to extend our lead through Jacob Hobbis following a period where we upped the pressure.

"The scoring was complete late on when Carlton McKenzie notched a great goal.

"I was pleased with the application and attitude of our boys. They worked hard and maybe the 4-1 scoreline did flatter us."
