Boss on our opening League game of the season...

IT WAS obviously pleasing to start with a win and a clean sheet on Saturday. We looked an attacking threat for much of the game and played some decent stuff.

We will continue to learn with each new game and we know that as we go into the 2012/13 season, it will be a battle for points in every game.

Doncaster will have something to prove this season following their relegation at the end of last term. It'll be a tough first test for us as they have good players throughout their side, but we are looking forward to the action getting underway.

It's nice to be at home for the first game and hopefully we'll hit the ground running.

We've been able to bring in some good, young players during the summer, lads who are hungry and keen to develop. We also have the experience to guide and nurture them.

There is a strong team ethic here and things have come together well over the past month or so. We know that there will be peaks and troughs during the season and it will be how we deal with these.

We have good characters here and I am expecting an exciting season, one that I am really looking forward to.

We want to encourage the fans to come in and get behind us, which they have done since I have been here. If we can play good football and be successful at the same time, it will be for the benefit of Walsall FC and that is what we all want.
