Butler on victory at Meadow Lane...

SKIPPER, Andy Butler was a happy man after leading The Saddlers to victory at Notts County.

The commanding centre half claimed the winning goal despite George Bowerman making sure the ball crossed the line. "The main thing was that we came home with three points," he said. "The lads worked ever so hard and we deserved the 1-0 win.

"We were not really at the races in the first half, but we had a good shape about us after the break and forced them to change their style, which is credit to us.

"This is a team game and everyone involved worked their socks off. We had a lot of new players come in during the summer and we're getting used to each other all the time, but the signs are encouraging.

"As a defensive unit we can be pleased today. It was a good win, but we won't get ahead of ourselves and will take each game as it comes.

"Our focus now turns to Tuesday's game at QPR. It will be a good experience to go there and everyone is looking forward to testing themselves against Premier League opposition.

"It's certainly going to be an interesting test for us."
