SADDLERS SIGN BAXENDALE

2 August 2012

Talented wide-man puts pen to paper...

THE SADDLERS have further strengthened our options ahead of the new season with the capture of James Baxendale.

The talented 19 year-old is a product of the Leeds United youth system, progressing through the ranks before being released at the end of the 2010/11 season.

He was snapped up by hometown club, Doncaster Rovers where he made a couple of early appearances before being sent out on loan, ending last term at Hereford United.

The winger was released by Doncaster following their relegation into League One during the summer.

“James is a skilful player who understands the game,” said manager, Dean Smith. “We’ve had him here since the start of pre-season and during that time he has displayed fantastic commitment and a real work ethic.

“We see him as someone who is really going to push on and do well for us. He’s a ball carrier who can see a pass and has the ability to unlock defences.

“He will bring an exciting dimension to our play.”

Baxendale will wear the number 24 shirt.
