Positive start for new boy...

SUMMER signing, Ashley Hemmings took just eight minutes into his competitive Saddlers' debut to open his scoring account.

The pacy wide-man fired home what proved to be the winner as The Saddlers overcame the challenge of Brentford in the first round of the Capital One Cup.

“It was the best start that I could have hoped for,” he said. “Not only did we win the game and progress to the next round, but for me to get the winning goal really was the icing on the cake.

“It’s very important for me to be able to show the supporters what I can do straight away. This is a fantastic opportunity that I have been given and I intend to grab it with both hands.

“There have been a number of new faces come in over the pre-season, but we have gelled together well and already there is a good spirit around the place. There is a nice blend of youth and experience, which will serve us well.

“The type of football that we are being encourage to play suits me down to the ground. I enjoy nothing more than getting the ball at my feet and running at defenders, something I am encouraged to do here.

“The philosophy of the management team is so refreshing and the players are responding to it."
