Emerging front-man on the mark...

EMERGING front-man, George Bowerman opened The Saddlers' League scoring account as we achieved our first point of the season at Oldham.

"After Saturday's defeat we were determined to come here and get something," he said. "We'll take a point away from home and now we'll look to build on it.

"It's always nice to come on and score. Of course I want to start, but a few more of those and I'll get my chance.

"I was pleased with the goal; I gambled on the back-pass and fortunately it came off and I slotted it home.

"It's good to have so many youngsters around and there is the sense that if you are good enough, you will get your chance, as was the case with Aaron Williams who was given his debut tonight.

"That can only be good for the club. As a team we're gelling together all of the time and I know that if I play, the chances will come.

"The gaffer has showed his faith in me and I want to repay him in goals.

"We go to Notts County in our next game looking to do what we did in the second half. It's a shame that Manny Smith won't be playing for County as it would have been nice to come up against him, but our focus is to bring home the three points."
