Smith reflects on latest pre-season action...

SADDLERS boss, Dean Smith has reflected upon our 2-1 defeat at Burton Albion.

"It was a decent game for us," he said. "We controlled the ball for long periods but unfortunately didn't get the goals to show for it.

"We've got a lot of new players in the team and are looking at different options in these games. I'm pleased with where we are; obviously we want to win, but it was good to be able to get 20 lads involved today.

"The players are starting to understand what we want. We're all forming new relationships, but the effort of the lads can't be faulted today.

"We created a number of chances during the first half in particular and played some good stuff at times.

"We're certainly moving in the right direction."

The manager has promised that decisions on some of the trialists involved will be made in the early part of the week ahead.
