THE WAY we played on Saturday and the manner in which we scored our goals was quality. I thought that we dominated the first half and the only slight worry in the back of my mind at half-time was what happened in our last home game against Hartlepool United.

In the end, though, it was a case of cool heads, and whilst Northampton made us work hard for the three points, I was delighted that the players were able to get the result that they deserved as we made a return to winning ways.

Our first goal from Chris Palmer was a fantastic strike and worth the admission fee alone, whilst the second came as a result of an excellent corner. Troy Deeney was as brave as a lion to score the crucial third goal and we defended resolutely after that to display fantastic spirit and determination.

Tonight we turn our attention to Johnstone's Paint Trophy matters with the visit of a Luton Town side who will be looking to put the stresses and strains of their League campaign behind them.

With a Wembley Final the eventual prize on offer, both sides will be determined to make progress, so it has all the ingredients to be an enthralling Cup contest.

Your backing, as ever, will be crucial to us in what is a big cup week for the club. We return here on Saturday, of course, when Scunthorpe United provide the opposition in the first round of the FA Cup.
