JIMMY MULLEN v CARLISLE UNITED, SEPTEMBER 27th
ALL THE credit for last Saturday's heroic performance at Brighton goes to the players. The way they dealt with the situation and the character, determination and effort that they displayed to win the game is something that I have not seen in my 40 years in the game both as a player and manager.
We defended as a team and it was absolutely fantastic. Now we get down to the nitty-gritty of Carlisle United. This is a big game for us; Carlisle will be a wounded animal after two defats in a row and they will want to bounce back as quickly as possible.
They are a very good footballing side and in John Ward have a very experienced manager at the helm. It has all the ingredients to be a great game and after two excellent away wins, I hope that we get the level of support that the lads deserve.
It's not ideal that we go into the game without our two full-backs from last weekend due to suspension, but we have people who are versatile and can comfortably cover these positions.
We have to be prepared for a different type of situation on Saturday. We have enough experience to cope with it and will be ready and prepared to deal with it. We want to show people that we can perform as well at home as we have done on the road.
It's always nice to be up there with the leading pack and a positive result at the weekend will keep us well amongst the top six.
JIMMY MULLEN
