JIMMY MULLEN - v LEYTON ORIENT, SEPTEMBER 6TH

Posted on: Fri 05 Sep 2008

WE GO into the game on the back of a pleasing 5-2 victory over Southend United last weekend. As a team we performed very, very well. I was disappointed that we let them back in it at 1-0 up, but to win the match in the manner that we did is full credit to the players.

We took the game to our visitors right from the start and got our reward in the end. I set extremely high standards and to concede two sloppy goals was obviously a disappointment to me.

It was nice to see Ishmel Demontagnac take his first-team chance by notching a superb hat-trick. I've said it many times before that Ishmel is a player capable of many things. Having said that, he's got to earn the right to be in the team and do it on a regular basis.

We've seen exactly what he is capable of and he's got everything that is required to be a top-class player, but, as I am sure you'll agree, we need to see it more consistently

We take on another well-established side at League One level this weekend. Leyton Orient will be doing all that they can to pick up their first League win on the road this term, but if we play with the confidence and fluidity that we did in the second half last Saturday, we will give ourselves every chance of securing the right result come the final whistle.

I hope that we will be able to attract more people along on Saturday, especially as it's Fun Day. We served up what the crowd wanted last weekend with an impressive team display and some great goals. You can't ask for more than that and we want to see as many fans inside the stadium as possible to give the players the backing that they deserve.
