BRIGHTON & HOVE ALBION TEAM TALK
TOO many players were not at the top of their form against Northampton Town on Saturday and it cost us.
In this League you have to be 100% right on any given day and if you're not then you find yourselves in trouble. Saturday was one of those occasions, but, fair play to Northampton, they came here with a game plan and carried it out very well.
We must make sure that we continue to keep plugging away. If we are to challenge for a place in the top six come the end of the season then a lot will depend on how we can bounce back from disappointments.
It's good that we have this game so soon and I can assure you that we will be doing all that we can to stay in that top six.
I'm under no illusions that there are a lot of big clubs around us in the table whose resources are far greater than ours. They should be way ahead of us, but they aren't and there is no way that I am going to let one disappointment change the way I feel about this group of players.
We know that tonight's game is another big one and will be just as tough as the weekend against another side who still have their eye on a place in the play-offs.
We know that we are going to have to play much better in order to get a positive result. There is no point dwelling on what has happened in the past; that has gone. Now is the time to roll our sleeves up, work hard and reach those high standards that we have set ourselves this season.
Thank you for your support this evening. Get behind the lads from the first whistle and give them the backing that they deserve.
