I FEEL that it is fitting to start by reflecting upon the tragic death of first-year apprentice, Anton Reid on the training ground earlier this week.
The players and staff have been left heartbroken by this terrible tragedy. It certainly puts things into perspective and our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this very sad time.
We are united in grief and go into Saturday's game on the back of a good performance at Leyton Orient last weekend. I thought that we dominated proceedings from start to finish and in the end we were naturally disappointed to come away with nothing to show for our efforts.
I couldn't have asked for any more from the lads; we have stepped up our performance levels with each game so far and I am looking for that to continue at the weekend.
We can take plenty of encouragement from the fact that we have given a good account of ourselves against three strong League One outfits. Winning football matches requires the right type of performance; we don't like losing and have been working extremely hard during what has been a difficult week to make sure that we give ourselves every chance of picking up that first victory of the season.
Having faced them in the Carling Cup a couple of weeks ago, we know that Swansea City will provide us with a stern test. They are a strong side, who are sure to be there or thereabouts in the final reckoning.
Like all of our games so far, there were plenty of positive aspects to take from our trip to the Liberty Stadium and we face the challenge that lies before us with real relish and determination.
I encourage you all to get behind the team from the first whistle, as you did against Carlisle United, and play your part in our quest to secure three points.
