LEYTON ORIENT TEAM TALK, 18/8/2007

Posted on: Fri 17 Aug 2007

LEYTON Orient are one of a number of League One clubs who have given it a real good go this summer.

They have made an impressive start to the campaign and as such their confidence will be high, but we have competed against two of the better teams at this level so far and have not been opened up by either.

Against Swansea City on Tuesday evening I thought that we gave as good as we got throughout the 90 minutes. We had the better of the opening 20 minutes or so but they scored with their first shot and had a good spell for the rest of the first half.

Then in the second half we pushed strongly for the equaliser and had several 'half-chances' before getting hit on the counter-attack with the last kick of the game.

Swansea are a good team and I said before the start of the season that in Carlisle and Swansea we would have two tough opening games that would give us an idea what to expect this season.

From what we have seen, we can take a lot from these games. Don't get me wrong, I badly wanted to win and I'd sum up the night as a 'nearly performance'. We gave the ball away at times and chose the wrong ball here and there but it wasn't a million miles away from a decent performance

We've stepped up a level and have played two very good League One sides so far but on both occasions, we have had good things to take from the games and this team will get better with time.
