LIKE the rest of you, I was disappointed in the way things turned out against Bury in our last game. My disappointment was not for the team or the fact that we failed to take an opportunity to regain pole position in the League Two table, but for the fans.
You turned up in high spirits to celebrate a wonderful promotion and ultimately deserved much better than the performance we served up. Our first half showing was totally unacceptable and whilst we improved after the break, and gave it a real go, we didn't do enough to get back into the game.
Bury came here fighting for their Football League lives and proved to be hard-working and well-organised opposition. I am expecting more of the same from a Wrexham side that find themselves in a similarly precarious position with just two games to go, although their recent form has been impressive with three wins in a row, during which time they have failed to concede a goal.
We must not let last weekend's defeat detract from what has been a fantastic achievement from the players to secure promotion with three games still to play.
It has been a wonderful effort from everyone concerned; this group of players has worked hard, coped well with the pressure and expectation levels and bounced back from whatever set-backs have come our way during a long, hard season.
Winning at Notts County lifted an awful lot of pressure off everyone, but maybe it also took an edge off our game, which left us looking a little flat last time out.
Obviously we will be aiming to finish our home programme on a high and still be in with a chance of claiming the Title as we travel to Swindon for our final game of the season. I will look forward to seeing as many of you there as possible.
Please keep off the pitch at the final whistle on Saturday as the players and I would like to return to the field to show our appreciation for the support that we have received over the past nine months.
All that remains is to wish each and every one of you a very pleasant summer.........
RICHARD MONEY
