TO SECURE promotion at Notts County last weekend was a fantastic achievement for everyone associated with the club.
We have celebrated over the past seven days, but it's important that we don't let things drift away. We are going to give the Title a real shot.
The goals that we set ourselves at the start of the season were based around 45 games. We wanted to be able to go to Swindon on the last day still in with a chance of securing the Championship and we are still very much on course to do that.
Standing before us are two consecutive home games against sides who are fighting for their Football League lives. We must respect the teams battling it out at the bottom and give it everything we have got both on Saturday and next weekend when we play host to Wrexham.
Bury made life difficult for us at Gigg Lane back in December and I am expecting more of the same on Saturday. They have a good mix of youth and experience within their side plus an up-and-coming young manager in Chris Casper.
Last Saturday's performance at Meadow Lane was quite possibly our worst of the season, but who gives a damn? At this stage of the season it is all about results and on a difficult surface, against a side who put three big men up front and favoured a direct style, we showed tremendous strength of character to get the result that we needed, even though it was difficult to actually get the ball down and play.
Our success this season has been based on strong organisation and commitment to the cause. We are now unbeaten in nine games and that is a tremendous record at such a nervous time of the season.
Each and every one of the players has done me proud. I also think that the fans have been wonderful. You turned out in great numbers at Notts County and gave us outstanding backing.
We are going to need more of the same in these three remaining games as we look to finish on a real high. Let's create a special atmosphere within the stadium….
