Football historian Leigh Edwards profiles every Walsall player from 60 post-war League seasons.

JAMES CONSTABLE: Tall striker who joined Walsall from Chippenham Town for £4,000 in November 2005 and made his League debut in that month's 3-1 victory at home to Rotherham United. He was unable to prevent The Saddlers' relegation last season and has netted three goals in 23 League outings to date.

LEN COOPER: England Youth outside-left who was a Wolves reserve before joining Walsall in February 1956. He scored on his League debut in the following month's 2-1 win at home to Millwall, netting twice in five third division (south) games overall, joining Yeovil Town in July 1956. He died in November 1992.

ARTHUR CORBETT: Inside-forward who netted five goals in 25 third division (south) outings for Walsall prior to joining Hednesford Town in July 1951. He spent seven seasons at Nuneaton Borough, then played for Mitchell & Butler. Still living in Birmingham, he was a plasterer until retiring in August 1993.

STEVE CORICA: Australian International winger who reunited with Colin Lee at Walsall in February 2002 and scored nine goals in 73 first division outings while at Bescot Stadium before joining Sydney in September 2004. He netted the winner in the Grand Final as they won the inaugural A-League title.

FRANK CORRIGAN: Former Blackpool reserve whose only League appearance for Walsall was in place of Roger Fry in the 2-1 defeat at home to AFC Bournemouth in September 1973. He joined Burton Albion in May 1975, then played for Bangor City, Northwich Victoria, Wigan Athletic and Stafford Rangers.

PAUL COTON: Teenage right-back who turned professional for Walsall in February 1967 and his only League appearance was in place of the injured Frank Gregg in the 2-2 draw at home to Shrewsbury Town two months later. He then played for Wellington Town/Telford United before emigrating to Australia.

ERIC COUSANS: Outside-right whose solitary goal in four League outings came in Walsall's 4-1 defeat at home to Crystal Palace in March 1955. He moved to Gillingham in September 1955, then played for Dover and Canterbury City where he became trainer. Still living in Canterbury, he is a retired chiropodist.

COLIN CRAMB: Scottish striker who joined Walsall on loan from Bristol City in February 1999 and netted four goals in four League outings. He moved to Crewe Alexandra in August 1999, then played for Fortuna Sittard, Bury, Shrewsbury Town, Grimsby Town, Hamilton Academical and is currently with Stenhousemuir.

BILLY CROOK: Experienced wing-half who was an FA Cup winner with Wolves in 1949 and joined Walsall in October 1954. He scored twice in 45 third division (south) games for The Saddlers before leaving in May 1956. Later a structural draughtsman with Rubery Owen & Co, he lives in Cradley Heath.

NICKY CROSS: Popular striker who was Walsall's leading marksman in 1985-86 and netted 45 goals in 109 League games prior to joining Leicester City for £80,000 in January 1988. He subsequently played for Port Vale, Hereford United, Solihull Borough, Redditch United (as player-manager) and with his son at Feckenham.

ROY CROSS: Ex-England Schoolboy centre-half who understudied Stan Bennett and made 12 third division appearances for Walsall before moving to Port Vale in July 1970. Ever-present in 1971-72, he joined Nuneaton Borough in July 1975 and subsequently coached at Stoke City's School of Excellence.

CHRIS CROWE: Former England International midfielder who scored once in 13 League outings for Walsall prior to joining Bath City in July 1970, then managed Greenway Sports and Norwegian side Fram. Settling in Bristol, he ran a shoe shop, then was an estate agent and taxi driver. He died in April 2003.

TOM CURTIS: Battling midfielder who joined Walsall on loan from Portsmouth in September 2001, making four League appearances for The Saddlers. He moved to Mansfield Town in December 2002 and helped them reach the third division play-off Final in 2003/04, since playing for Chester and Notts County.

JIMMY DAINTY: Young winger who progressed through the ranks and turned professional at Fellows Park in October 1971. He made his League debut in Walsall's 3-0 victory at home to Bradford City five months later and played five third division games for The Saddlers before joining Dundalk in July 1973.

KOFI DAKINAH: Danish Youth defender who joined Walsall from Herfolge in July 2004 and appeared in the friendly against Manchester United. He played in the matches against Sheffield Wednesday in Carling Cup and League One before being injured and returning to Denmark with Nordsjaelland in November 2004.

STEVE DALEY: Former Wolves and England 'B' International midfielder who joined Walsall from San Diego in August 1985 and scored once in 28 third division games for The Saddlers prior to joining Rhyl in July 1986. He later played for Kettering Town, then managed Telford United and Bromsgrove Rovers. Went on to work as a sales rep in the brewery industry.

TONY DALEY: Former England International winger who had played under Graham Taylor at Aston Villa, Wolves and Watford. He moved to Walsall in June 1999 and made seven first division appearances prior to joining Forest Green Rovers in September 1999, appearing for them in the 2001 FA Trophy Final. Went on to work for Sheffield United as a fitness coach.

RAY DANIEL: Experienced left-back who joined Walsall from Portsmouth in August 1995 and played against Ipswich in the 1995-96 FA Cup fourth round, making 35 League appearances before moving to Brigg Town in July 1997. He then played for North Ferriby and has since coached Hall Road Rangers.

SCOTT DANN: Teenage starlet who turned professional for Walsall in August 2004 and made his League debut as a late substitute in the 3-0 victory at home to Chesterfield five months later. He had a loan spell with Koge BK during the 2004-05 campaign before serving both Redditch United and Hednesford Town on a temporary basis last term. Scored his first goal in this year's 1-0 Carling Cup first round win at Plymouth Argyle, adding further efforts against Macclesfield Town and Bristol Rovers as he starts to make an impact on the first-team.

DOUG DARBY: Former Wolves reserve centre-forward who joined Walsall in May 1946 and featured in The Saddlers' first post-War League match at Southend United three months later. He netted four goals in 15 third division (south) games while at Fellows Park. Settling in Rotherham, he died in February 1963.

JOHNNY DAVIDSON: Scottish inside-forward who moved to Walsall from Alloa Athletic in August 1955 and made his League debut in that month's 2-0 defeat at home to Leyton Orient. He failed to secure a regular first-team slot and made five third division (south) appearances before returning to Scotland.

WILLIE DAVIES: Scottish forward who gained considerable top-flight experience with Huddersfield Town prior to joining Walsall in July 1957. He played in The Saddlers' opening six games that season but made just one further third division (south) appearance prior to joining Bath City in July 1958. He died in 1996.

JOHN DAVIES: Ex-Portsmouth and Scunthorpe United winger who joined Walsall in January 1959 and starred in the 1959-60 fourth division title triumph. He also helped win promotion the following season and netted 17 goals in 65 League outings for The Saddlers. Now a retired policeman, living in Portsmouth.

KEN DAVIES: Former Wolves reserve winger who moved to Walsall in June 1946 and featured in The Saddlers' first post-War League match at Southend United two months later. He scored five times in 28 third division (south) games prior to joining Brighton in May 1948, then played for Chippenham Town.

REG DAVIES: Former West Brom goalkeeper who made 53 League appearances for Walsall prior to joining Millwall in May 1958. Starring in their 1961-62 fourth division title triumph, he later played for Leyton Orient, Port Vale and Orient again. He then worked in the tourist industry in St. Helier, Jersey.

CYRIL DAVIS: Centre-forward who joined Walsall as an amateur from Hednesford Town in May 1948. He understudied Phil Chapman and made his only third division (south) appearance in The Saddlers' 3-0 defeat at home to Southend United in April 1949. He resided in Birmingham until his death in March 1992.

LEN DAVIS: Former Arsenal reserve centre-forward who moved to Walsall in February 1954 and scored on his League debut in that month's 3-2 defeat at home to Colchester United. He kept his place for the rest of that season and netted five goals in 25 third division (south) games, later returning to Ireland.

NEIL DAVIS:  The former Aston Villa youngster made his Saddlers' debut as a substitute against Gillingham on the opening day of the 1998/99 season. His stay at Bescot Stadium was to be short-lived as he linked up with Hednesford Town for whom he was a regular on the scoresheet during his time at Keys Park. He has latterly served the likes of Newport County, Moor Green and Bromsgrove Rovers.
