THE SADDLERS completed the permanent capture of left-back, Paul Boertien on July 27th 2007.
The 29 year-old came through the ranks at Carlisle United, where he made just 21 first-team appearances before landing a £250,000 move into the top-flight with Derby County in March 1999.
Making a total of 126 outings at Premier League and Championship level for The Rams, he had a brief loan spell at Crewe Alexandra in February 2000 before spending a month at Notts County in January 2004.
In 2006/07 he made four appearances whilst on loan at Chesterfield as well as 11 outings for Derby as they secured Premiership status.
Starting the 2007/08 campaign as a regular in the side, he put in some no-nonsense displays before injury halted his progress.
Spending four months on the sidelines, he then returned to display his undoubted ability before injury struck once more and ended his season in late March.
Penned a new deal in May 2008.
