THE SADDLERS completed the signing of Southampton central defender, Olly Lancashire on July 14th 2010.
Coming through the ranks at Crystal Palace, where his talents were spotted by Southampton, and he went on to captain their Under-18 side as well as establishing a regular place for the reserves.
His performances soon earned him England recognition at Under-19 level and he went on to make his senior debut for The Saints in September 2008.
He was allowed to link-up with Grimsby Town in October 2009 in a bid to get much-needed first-team experience under his belt. It was to be the first of three spells with the Blundell Park outfit.
Making a total of 12 appearances for Southampton and 26 outings for The Mariners, the Basingstoke-born defender impressed whilst on trial with The Saddlers and ended the 2010/11 season strongly with some commanding displays as he benefitted from working closely on the training ground alongside former Walsall boss, Chris Nicholl, who returned to the club in an advisory capacity.
