THE SADDLERS snapped up former loanee, Dwayne Mattis on a permanent basis on July 3rd 2008.
The energetic midfielder had a highly-successful four-game loan spell here at the Banks's Stadium in 2007/08 as he helped the club record three excellent victories and a draw before injury brought a premature end to his stay.
Mattis came through the ranks at home-town club, Huddersfield Town where he went on to make a total of 79 appearances in all competitions.
He moved on to Bury in the summer of 2004 and made a big impact at Gigg Lane in over 100 games. His performances earned him a £50,000 switch into The Championship with Barnsley in January 2007.
The former Republic of Ireland Under-21 International played a key role in 2008/09 with some assured displays.
