James Walker
STARTED his career as a trainee at Notts County, he signed professional forms at Meadow Lane in July 1991 before being picked up on a free transfer by The Saddlers just prior to the start of the 1993/94 season.
An extremely agile and brave 'keeper, he played a vital role in the progress of the club during his 11 years, which included some outstanding displays.
He was a well-respected figure around Bescot Stadium and was granted a richly-deserved Testimonial in 2003/04.
Making more appearances than any other Saddlers' 'keeper, he beat off the challenge of numerous other goalkeepers and ended up with 475 outings to his name in all competitions.
In December 2003 he wrote an autobiography entitled 'Size Isn't Everything' with Saddlers' Programme Editor, Andrew Poole which centred around his time at Walsall FC.
He eventually left the club to join West Ham United in the summer of 2004, but he has found his opportunities decidedly limited at Upton Park.
He still gets along to matches at the Banks's Stadium when his commitments allow.
