HAVING broken Colin Harrison's all-time Walsall FC appearance record at Brentford earlier this month, Tuesday's home game will see us paying tribute to James Walker's outstanding achievement.
Ironically the opposition are Notts County, the club from where we first signed Wacka way back in 1993.
There will be a guard of honour to greet him onto the field at the start of the game, with Colin Harrison on hand to present the popular goalkeeper with a specially-engraved trophy to mark the occasion.
A special James Walker edition of the Matchday Programme will be produced and on sale from the usual outlets at £3 per copy, whilst members of his family will be given VIP treatment with a pre-match meal… we're even allowing Wacka to choose the pre-match and half-time music!
The club has also been working closely with Walsall Football Supporters Trust to make further arrangements. The Trust has had a special 'Walker 530' shirt made which will be framed and presented to him by Colin Harrison in The Bonser Suite after the game.
They have also invited fellow legends Nick Atthey (502 appearances) and Kenny Mower (494 appearances) along to the game to join in the celebrations along with family members of the late, great Colin Taylor (502 appearances).
Supporters will also be able to get into the mood with James Walker masks, which will be on sale outside the ground from members of the Trust at just £1 each!
We want to see as many Saddlers supporters as possible here at Banks's Stadium on Tuesday, January 31st (kick-off 7.45pm) to show their support to a true Walsall FC legend and give thanks for the fantastic service that he has given this great club of ours over the years.
