WESTLAKE LOOKING TO GRAB OPPORTUNITY

Posted on: Thu 02 Sep 2010

HAVING returned to the starting line-up on Tuesday evening, rising star, Darryl Westlake is hoping that it will signal the start of a run in the team.

"I have waited patiently for my chance," said last season's Young Player of the Year. "I felt good going into the game and my performance in the second half was better.

" I know that I have to try and grab this opportunity with both hands; it will be a tough test against Colchester on Saturday as they were up there challenging for the play-offs last season.

"But we know that if everyone does their jobs, we will give ourselves every chance of getting back into winning ways.

"It's been a bit of an up-and-down start to the season for us, but if we can get on a bit of a run, we will be okay. The new signings have all come in and made a contribution and with the squad we have, I expect us to be up there challenging at the right end of the table.

"That said, League One is getting stronger every season; the likes of Sheffield Wednesday, Charlton Athletic and Southampton are all big clubs.

"From a personal point of view, I want to feature in more games than last season and chip in with a few goals."
