BOSS REFLECTS

Posted on: Wed 01 Sep 2010

SADDLERS' boss, Chris Hutchings has reflected upon our Johnstone's Paint Trophy exit at the hands of Chesterfield.

"It was frustrating, particularly after our past couple of performances, which had been good," he said. "We started the game okay, but their goal knocked the wind out of our sails. We managed to get back into the game through Reuben Reid and created a few chances immediately after the equaliser, but, in fairness, we never really got amongst them as much as I would have liked and our tempo was too slow.

"As I said, we had given a good account of ourselves in our previous home game against Plymouth Argyle and then followed that up with a decent first half showing at Brighton last weekend, but on this occasion we didn't threaten as much as I know we are capable of.

"There were some positives to take out of the game. It was good to be able to get 90 minutes out of Jon Macken, whilst first-year professional, Jamie Paterson came on at half-time and looked very lively. He can take heart from his first senior outing for the club."
