SADDLERS' bss, Chris Hutchings was in upbeat mood following our first home win of the season against Plymouth Argyle.

"I am delighted with the way that we performed," he said. "We showed character, belief and passed it around well against a good Plymouth side who played their part in an entertaining game.

"I was pleased with Reuben Reid's contribution and goal. It was a late decision to start with him as Darren Byfield's Achilles was sore and we decided not to risk him. 

"All in all it was a good day at the office; everyone played their part in an excellent win for us."

The only down-point was a knee injury to Steve Jones which forced him off on the stroke of half-time. He will be assessed on Sunday and have a scan early next week to discover the extent of the damage.

Meanwhile, new signing, Jon Macken didn't feature as he has a slight calf strain. "He's a couple of weeks behind the rest of the lads," added Hutchings. "We managed to get an hour out of him against Coventry during the week, but he has been feeling his calf a little, so we will get him right before we put him in."
