REUBEN Reid has targeted a regular place in The Saddlers' side after checking in on loan from West Bromwich Albion.

The 22 year-old has put pen-to-paper on a deal initially until January. "I am delighted to be here," said the former Rotherham United man. "I've not played a lot of football this year, so I want to work hard and push for a shirt.

"It was a bit stop-start for me last year, but now I have the chance to make an impact."

So what qualities will Reid bring to the team? "I have pace, the ability to create chances and generally be a threat to the opposition," he went on. "I had a good feeling about this place as soon as I walked in; I'm not one to set targets, but as long as I am performing to the level I know I am capable of, I will be okay."

Reid, who has been handed squad number 22, stands by to make his Walsall debut against Plymouth Argyle, the club where he started his career. "It's going to be interesting," he added. "Obviously I am keen to be involved, but know that it's going to be a tough game.

"League One is extremely competitive and there will be a number of teams pushing for promotion.

"Hopefully I can play my part in helping Walsall to be one of those teams."
