SADDLERS' boss, Chris Hutchings has praised the character of Alex Nicholls after he opened his goalscoring account for the club in last weekend's 2-1 victory at Brentford.

"For a striker it's all about confidence and taking chances," said Hutchings. "Alex missed a glorious chance in the previous game against Tranmere but took his goal extremely well at Griffin Park last week.

"It shows character and will do his confidence the power of good.

"We're trying to play football here, but sometimes we will come under pressure and have to play it long. When we do that we need to have someone who can get in behind and Alex is capable of doing that."
