ALEX Nicholls believes that Saturday's victory over Brentford is just the 'kick-start' The Saddlers need.

Nicholls opened the scoring at Griffin Park as Chris Hutchings' Men went on to record a deserved 2-1 away day victory.

It was The saddlers' first win of the new season and Nicholls believes that victory will give the squad confidence.

"It's a great result and we needed something like it to give us that bit of confidence, the longer you go without a result or playing well the harder it is. It can give us a kick start," said the 22-year-old. "Getting a result like that after the performances before, we played nowhere near our best against MK Dons or Tranmere, I don't think you can put a value on this result.

"It will give the lads a lift and more confidence."
