THE SADDLERS' youth team sahred the spoils in their final pre-season friendly fixture at Sporting Khalsa.

"It was another good work-out for us," said Head of Youth, Dean Smith. "The game was played on a big pitch and the long grass slowed the game down.

"We never really got to grips with the conditions in the first half and our tempo was too slow. Going in at the break trailing by one goal to nil, we addressed the situation during the half-time interval and came out looking better at the start of the second period. 

"We created numerous chances, but had t wait until near the end to equalise courtesy of a fine individual effort from Jake Jones."

The youth team start their Football League Youth Alliance campaign on Saturday at Stockport County.
