SADDLERS' boss, Chris Hutchings has reflected upon our Carling Cup exit at the hands of Tranmere Rovers.

"If you don't take your chances, you don't win games, it's as simple as that," he said. "The first half we had opportunities but we lacked a bit of composure and didn't test their 'keeper enough. I felt that we had more possession during the opening period but needed to step up the tempo and pass the ball a bit quicker.

"They scored with their first real effort on goal from a set-piece, which was very disappointing, and this knocked us back.

"The second half was more even, but the miss from Alex Nicholls early in the half was probably the turning point. Games are won and lost in both penalty areas; we have to be more ruthless at both ends of the field."

The manager went on to admit that his quest to strengthen the squad is ongoing. "We are working constantly behind the scenes to bring new faces in," he added. "We all know how important it is to bring two or three players in and we are doing all that we can to make this happen.

"We have another game to look forward to at Brentford on Saturday. The lads know that we are not happy and hopefully we can go there and get a result."
