WORTHWHILE TRIP FOR YOUNGSTERS

Posted on: Thu 15 Jul 2010

THE SADDLERS' youth team played the second game of their Scottish tour on Thursday afternoon.

Dean Smith's youngsters suffered a narrow 4-3 defeat at the hands of Hibernian with Aaron Williams, Aaron Forde (pictured) and Jason Wellings on the scoresheet.

"It was a poor first half for us, but we really came into it after the break," said Head of Youth, Dean Smith. "We played with a much higher tempo in the second half and were pressing towards the end in search of an equaliser.

"However, our hosts held firm to claim a hard-earned win.

"The lads have learned a lot about me during the trip and by the same token, I have learned an awful lot about them as players and individuals.

"It's been great for team bonding and has been extremely worthwhile for all of us. We have had access to some fantastic facilities and it will all bode well for us."
