HAVING been made to work extremely hard over the past few weeks, front-man, Troy Deeney is looking forward to the pre-season action getting underway.

"The pre-season has been tough but the same time enjoyable," he said. "All the lads have come back with a decent level of fitness and the new lads have come in and looked good.

"Everyone is pulling in the same direction, so things are going well.

"We have done a lot of sprint and ball work over the past few weeks, but now we are just looking forward to getting back into action.

"We want to test ourselves against bigger and better teams, so we are looking forward to the forthcoming friendlies against Wolves, Coventry and Aston Villa. It's all about getting our fitness levels up and implementing what we want to do once the season gets underway.

"From a personal point of view I am looking to get 20 goals. The signing of Julian Gray will certainly help with his supply from out wide, whilst Steve Jones on the other wing is another talented player. I enjoy playing alongside Darren Byfield; he is a real winner and we get on well together on and off-the-pitch."

The Saddlers play host to Wolves on Tuesday (kick-off 7.45pm) before entertaining Coventry on Saturday and Aston Villa the following Tuesday (kick-off 7.45pm).
