THE EXPRESS & Star's 'SMART Board Challenge' has helped raise £750 for Walsall Football Club's Youth Development Fund.

Throughout the season, the Express & Star have donated 10p from every sale of the newspaper sold at the Banks's Stadium on matchdays.

The money will be used to purchase a 'SMART board', which will enable the club's Head of Youth, Dean Smith, to provide in-depth feedback on match performances and tactical and technical analysis.

Jason Bate, Group Head of Casual Sales for the Express & Star, presented Dean Smith and Youth Liaison Officer, Bill Jones, with their cheque on Saturday as The Saddlers entertained MK Dons in the final game of the season.

"The season finished on Saturday, so we had a look at what we'd got so far and topped it up a little" explained Jason Bate. "Credit must go to those Saddlers fans who have supported the initiative and allowed us to make this small, but hopefully very important, contribution to the development of Walsall stars' of the future. "

"I would hope that even more Walsall supporters will join in and help make any future ventures a success, the Express & Star wants to play an active part in the future of Walsall FC - together we really can make a difference!"

"We'd like to thank the Express & Star, and of course Walsall fans, for their support'," added Dean Smith. "This is an expensive but vital piece of equipment and now we will be able to purchase a SMART board, which will be really beneficial in the ongoing development of our youngsters."
