DEENEY TAKES THE POSITIVES

Posted on: Wed 14 Apr 2010

FRONT-man, Troy Deeney played a key role in The Saddlers' comeback at Huddersfield as his brace brought us back on level terms before Alex Nicholls' strike made it 3-2.

Sadly two goals in the last minute gave the play-off chasing Terriers all three points on what was a roller-coaster of a night in Yorkshire. "I thought that all the lads grafted well," he said. "We have to take the positives out of the game; we showed great desire and a willingness to work hard for each other having been reduced to ten men after just 20 minutes.

"To be honest, I didn't know too much about the first goal, the ball just bounced off me, and for the second I initially thought that I was offside but just hit it as hard as I could and thankfully it went in.

"We had to be controlled and once the first goal went in you could see their fans and players become edgy. Once we scored the second, there was only going to be one winner at that stage.

"In the end, it wasn't to be, but I thought the fans got behind us really well. We now look forward to the next game and ending the season with four wins."
