MATTIS LOOKING TO CAUSE MORE MISERY FOR HOMETOWN CLUB

Posted on: Tue 13 Apr 2010

HUDDERSFIELD Town fan, Dwayne Mattis will be looking to put a dent in The Terriers' play-off hopes this evening.

The 28 year-old started his career with his hometown club, making a total of 79 senior appearances before being released and joining Bury. "I'm a Huddersfield supporter, but Walsall is my club," he said without hesitation. "I still watch the winning goal that I scored against them earlier in the season on DVD when I need cheering up. Hopefully I can do the same this evening and we can come home with all three points.

"Victories breed confidence and we go into the game in upbeat mood. After the defeats at Southend and Exeter we had to look at ourselves in the mirror because we knew that the performances were nowhere near good enough.

"We've bounced back over the Easter period and go into tonight's game full of confidence. The pressure will all be on Huddersfield; I've played there and know that there will be a lot of expectation from the fans.

"They are a big club and will be expecting to beat us, but if we set our stall out, make like difficult for them and then play our football going forward, we can show people what a good team we can be.

"After Saturday's defeat, this is a massive game for Huddersfield and, as I say, all the pressure will be on them.

"From our point of view, we want to get into that top ten and be able to go into next season on a roll. We have some talented players here and have proved that we can be more than a match for those teams in the higher reaches of the table."
