EXPERIENCED front-man, Sam Parkin came through 45 minutes of Tuesday's reserve team victory at Burton with no ill effects to the groin problem that has kept him out of action since early February.
The 29 year-old found the net at the Pirelli Stadium and is hoping to be able to make an impact at first-team level between now and the end of the season. "There's not long left to make a positive impact, but if I do get the chance I want to end the season with a flourish," he said. "I've not had many opportunities to show my best form, but I feel that I have a lot to offer to the team.
"I was pleased to get back into action on Tuesday and come through it with no adverse reaction because last week I felt a bit of pain in training. It's given me a boost and I should be back in contention for Saturday's game against Colchester."
Getting to the Banks's Stadium for Saddlers games has never been easier for football fans living in north Walsall thanks to three special matchday bus services which are being launched on Saturday. Click here to find out more.
Transport authority Centro, bus company Midland and Walsall Football Club have teamed up to fund and run the trial Saddlers Special bus services, which run for the last five home games of the season.
It means people living in the outer areas of the borough can get to home matches and back again quickly, easily and cheaply with tickets costing just £1.70 single or £3 return.
The services will cover areas including Bloxwich, Mossley, Lower Farm, Walsall Wood, Brownhills, Pelsall, Rushall, Coalpool, Shire Oak, Blakenall, Dudley Fields and Beechdale. Download your timetable here.
The buses will serve every stop on three carefully designed routes, taking Saddlers fans right into the Banks's Stadium car park by 2pm giving them plenty of time to get something to eat and drink, buy a programme and take their seat before kick-off.
Return services will depart from the same spot, leaving the ground at 5.05pm ensuring passengers don't need to wait around and get home quickly after the game.
If the trials are successful and enough people get on board Midland has pledged to keep running the buses during the 2010/11 season.
