THE SADDLERS have today been boosted by the news that Dwayne Mattis has an outside chance of a return to action this weekend.

The combative midfielder was stretchered off during the 2-1 victory over Brentford less than a fortnight ago with a deep gash to his calf. At the time it was feared the injury would result in a lengthy lay-off but, with his stitches due to be removed today, the 28 year-old could well feature against Millwall tomorrow afternoon.

"I'm feeling a lot better," he said. "I had eight stitches in a wound that was quite deep. I think the stitches are coming out today and it has settled down a lot to be fair.

"No one likes to be injured. You want to be playing games and I'm just glad that I haven't been out for too long. It's only been a week or so that I've had to sit out, so I'm thankful for that. It was a deep cut but it's recovered pretty quick, which we've all been pleased with.

"I think it's 50/50 in terms of Saturday. I've joined in with the lads and felt okay but it is a little sore still. I want to be involved because it's a big match. Millwall are chasing a play-off place and whilst it's still mathematically possible, that's our aim too. We go into every game looking for the three points and Saturday will be no different."
