O'CONNOR ON ALBION STALEMATE
RESERVE team manager, Martin O'Connor has reflected upon our goalless draw with West Bromwich Albion on Tuesday evening.
"Against strong opposition, I thought that we competed well, tried to do the right things and kept a good shape without really causing Albion too many problems in the first half," he said. "It was very much nip-and-tuck in the opening period with chances at either end at a premium.
"During the second period we were hard to break down and I thought that Mark Hughes and Rhys Weston looked solid in the heart of defence. They both displayed a good attitude, organised the back-line extremely well and were very professional throughout.
"It was good to see Steve Jones get another hour of action under his belt. He looked lively and although he missed a penalty early in the second half, it is good to have him back in the fray.
"Albion had a penalty of their own late on but Clayton Ince did his job well to save and earn us a point.
"Overall I feel that 0-0 was a fair result from our point of view. Albion had more possession, but we made it difficult for them."
