THE SADDLERS' reserve team returned to action with a 3-0 defeat at Derby County on a bitterly cold afternoon in the East Midlands.

"We stuck at it but were undone by conceding some poor goals," said second-string boss, Martin O'Connor. "We put in an improved performance during the second half and created some decent chances, but we have to learn from our mistakes.

"Clayton McDonald was forced off with a back injury late in the first half, which was disappointing, but there were some encouraging signs from some of the younger lads with Rory Wood, Will Grigg and second half substitute, Jamie Paterson looking lively. Alex Nicholls also had a decent game."

Meanwhile our totesport.com League Central Division clash at Port Vale has been moved from Monday, February 1st to Wednesday, February 3rd.
