SADDLERS' manager, Chris Hutchings has expressed his disappointment at today's game against Charlton Athletic falling victim of the weather.

"The referee was concerned about the bottom end of the pitch, in front of the away end," he said. "The ground staff, including the Chairman, had been working on the pitch since the early hours of the morning and when the referee did his initial inspection at 9.30am, he agreed to give it a couple more hours.

"Whilst the majority of the pitch was thawing out and playable, there were still certain areas giving the referee concern and after careful consideration he decided to call the game off at 12.35pm.

"The referee wanted to play the game as did Charlton and ourselves but in the end we were beaten by the elements once again.

"It's extremely frustrating as so much hard work has gone into trying to get this game on, but we have to abide by the referee's decision as player safety has to be the paramount concern."
