LIKE the rest of his team-mates, front-man, Troy Deeney can't wait to get back into action on Saturday following a frustrating festive period in which both of our previous games have fallen victim of the winter weather.
"I'm just itching to get out there and play, to be honest," said the eight-goal hit-man. "Everyone knows the circumstances of the Norwich game; we were ready to get out there and play, but for whatever reason, they travelled all that way and didn't fancy it.
"It's been extremely frustrating, so we are looking forward to the Charlton game. I felt that we showed them too much respect at their place earlier in the season, so the challenge is to prove that we are good enough to be more than a match for them.
"There's enough quality in our team to be able to give a good account of ourselves in this League and live with the best. We just need to find that level of consistency to go along with it."
So, at the half-way point of the season, what are Deeney's thoughts on the progress we have made so far this term? "As a team we are moving in the right direction," he added. "We find ourselves just outside the play-off zone and with a few new additions here and there, we can really push on.
"The signing of Clayton McDonald earlier this week has been a good one and it's great to have players of his calibre on board. He's a young lad who is determined to do well and make something of himself, just like myself.
"Personally I feel that I have done okay so far. I've scored a few goals but I always put pressure on myself to score more.
"Promotion has got to be the aim this year, that's what we are all striving for. 2010 is a big year for me and I will be looking to continue to develop and progress in the right way.
"As for New Year's Resolutions; I'd like to lose a bit of weight!
"The games are coming thick and fast in January with plenty of points to play for, so hopefully we can start as we mean to go on against Charlton this weekend."
