DEENEY DELIGHTED TO BE BACK ON THE MARK

Posted on: Mon 21 Dec 2009

TROY Deeney was delighted to get back on the scoresheet as his brace earned us a point in a 2-2 draw with Leyton Orient at the weekend.

The 21 year-old found the net for the first time since his two goals against Oldham at the end of November. "On a personal note, it was nice to get back amongst the goals," he said. "Obviously it would have been better had we got all three points, but we did well to recover from a poor first-half performance.

"All of the lads knew that our first half display was totally unacceptable and we spoke about things at half-time, with everyone - even the more reserved lads - having their say.

"It had the desired effect and once the first one went in straight from the restart, I felt that there was only going to be one winner.

"We created plenty of chances, but we just couldn't find that third goal. That said, with the games coming thick and fast it's all about picking up points where we can and as it turned out, it proved to be a good point because all of the teams around us lost.

"We will take the positives out of the game into our Boxing Day trip to Bristol Rovers."
