TUESDAY evening's victory over Oldham Athletic saw midfield man, Josh O'Keefe make his first senior start for the club whilst Troy Deeney found the net for the first time in over a month with a well-taken brace.

"I thought that Josh did well," said assistant manager, Martin O'Connor. "His overall game was good and he's set the standard now.

"It is up to him to maintain that level of performance and keep the shirt. He keeps the ball well and his work ethic for the team was important. Every day he trains hard and now he has the opportunity to establish himself in the starting line-up."

O'Keefe came in to replace Dwayne Mattis who picked up an Achilles injury at Brentford on Saturday and failed a late fitness test prior to the Oldham game.

For Deeney it was a welcome return to the scoresheet after some hard-working performances in recent weeks. "Troy fully deserved the goals for the way he has worked," added O'Connor. "Hopefully it will give him the confidence to go on and add to his tally.

"We've certainly got plenty of goals in the team. Steve Jones looks a threat and any chance that comes his way, he will finish. He works extremely hard for the team and is playing with a tremendous amount of confidence as seven goals in the last eight games suggests.

"Darren Byfield has also been in good form and is an important part of our team."
