THERE couldn't have been a more appropriate player to score the winner in our game against Huddersfield Town.

Dwayne Mattis is Huddersfield born-and-bred, coming through The Terriers' ranks to make 79 senior appearances for the club. In fact, he still lives in the Yorkshire town! "I've been looking forward to this game for a while," he said with a smile. "A lot of my friends support the club and I still go and watch them when I'm not playing.

"To get the three points was fantastic but to score a late winner really was the icing on the cake for me. It's the first time I've scored against Huddersfield and will be a goal that I will remember for the rest of my career.

"We needed that first home win and, to be fair, it has been coming for a while. Huddersfield are a very good side who I believe wiill be up there this season, but we stuck in there and got an important three points.

"Hopefully now we can build on this against Carlisle at the weekend.

"I've been pleased with my form this season; the consistency has been there and now I want to contribute more goals. The manager has encouraged me to get in more shots and hopefully I can make a regular scoring contribution to the team.

"We're looking up rather than down and can't wait for the next game to come around."
