AFTER coming up through the ranks at Ipswich Town, Matt Richards admits that today's encounter with Norwich City will have a little bit of extra spice for him.
Richards, who has been an ever-present for The Saddlers so far this term, made over 150 appearances for The Tractor Boys between 2002 and 2009 and is expecting a hot reception from the Norwich public this weekend.
Sam Parkin has also represented City's biggest rivals and Richard explained that the pair have spoken about the trip to Carrow Road.
"Ipswich and Norwich are big rivals," he said. "I was talking about it with Sam Parkin and we're going to get a little bit of stick, but I enjoy it.It gives you a little boost in the game and gets the adrenalin going but we have to enjoy it.
"I was there (Ipswich) for a long time, since I was ten, but I didn't come from that area. They (Norwich) are a good strong side, all the teams that have come down are. Charlton performed very well against us a fortnight ago and we didn't perform, it was an off day.
"If we can perform like we know we can, we can compete against any team in the league, including Norwich."

The 24 year-old has settled in well to life at the Banks's Stadium since his summer switch. His versatility has been an important factor, seeing him employed in central midfield, left wing and, for the final 20 minutes against Bury on Tuesday evening, at left-back.
Richards admits however that, as long as he is playing regularly, he doesn't mind where he plays.
"As long as the ball gets to me I don't mind where I play," he added. "Wherever the manager feels like playing me is fine. I don't have a preferred position.
"Hopefully I can continue to improve. I've enjoyed playing football and being involved. The happier you are, the more it shows in your performances."
